Fishing Reports

The last week has been producing 75 fish a day per boat, with big fish reaching the 10 pound mark. There have been lots of solid 2 to 3 pound bass, with several 6 pounders per boat. The east side of the lake is the strongest, but we are also seeing great numbers of fish coming from the river.

Bob Simmons reports low numbers but huge fish with 13.3, 10.4, 8.6, 8.3 and 7.9 pounders caught deep in the back of the coves in 18 feet of water. Frank Turner’s group of four averaged 6 fish over 9 pounds over the last four days of his trip. Most of Frank’s fish were also caught in the coves. Some boats in the river near the ranch had an explosion of numbers, but nothing of size.

All reports from the lodge have been excellent lately! We are seeing great numbers across the lake with many mid-size fish being caught around Papachaw. Topwater and rattle traps have been producing a lot of bites, in particular.

Nothing like excellent numbers with great topwater and ample 10 pounders! Papachaw is producing the biggest fish, mostly using 3/4 oz rattle traps and yellow magic on topwater. For 3 to 7 pounders, green brush hogs have been working best. Tom Crim caught the three biggest fish on the lake, with a total weight of almost 37 pounds.

We have had an explosion of numbers with topwater working all day long. Granted we are catching lots of small fish, but anytime you catch 120 fish per a day, you call that an excellent day.
