Fishing Reports

1 oz Revenge jigs (tilapia, black blue, and watermelon), 6 inch Senkos (watermelon, watermelon/red), Super Flukes (white and watermelon), 3/8 oz Scroungers tipped with Super Flukes , 5 inch swimbaits (pearl)

The big fish have been a little slower since January 5th, but Manuel has found a couple of monsters in the deep. The numbers of small male bass on the bank is a little more than we like.

Robert Reed and crew have been fishing with 3/8 oz Scroungers tipped with watermelon flukes and have scored some mid-size Baccarac Bass.

Most Boats are catching 70 a day right now and there are good photos of 9 pounders being taken.

There’s a warming trend this week, so we will give a new report this weekend.

Of course I was calling for continued jig bite deep as the last week of 2016 was amazing, however, cooler weather and those pesky small bass have been all over the banks. The solution is simply to move off to deeper water and dress a little warmer!

The first few days of 2017 slowed the big bite down, but Greg Riggle did manage multiple bass over 10 pounds. You can certainly catch a lot of small bass right now, but don’t give up on the big ones. We’ve got a nice group at the Lodge right now, and we are looking forward to the reports.

I hold steady calling for a continuation of trophy bass being caught, similar to the bite we had in the fall.
