Bigger fish have been pretty easy to find in 18 feet of water in Papachaw. Misha and his groups from Culiacán laid into the monsters all three days, totaling 120 bass a day. They said it was unbelievable fishing compared to El Salto. Victor Ramos from Spain reports using 6 inch swimbaits to catch countless 4 to 9 pound bass.
We are still seeing lots of bass full of eggs from the spawn.
It is only going to get better, I promise!
We have open seats April 4th and April 20th out of Fort Worth, TX. Call (806) 679-4433.

On March 7th, a massive cold front moved down the west coast, leaving snow in the mountains above the lake. Gil Wright and Hal Clifford managed to fish through the crazy wind and had great results. In the last ten days, the daily average size has stayed about the same, around 4 pounds. Everett and Jack Ivy caught several 8 and 9 pounders on wacky senkos.
I fished on the 13th and found smaller fish up the river and around Duck Island, but excellent numbers. Our bigger fish, two over 9 pounds, came from the clearer water in Papachaw.
A new group at the lodge from Xpress Boats is reporting a “double thumbs up” on both size and numbers. They have already busted the 10 pound mark a few times.
Roger Hatch reports Sixto to be the best guide in the world. They have been finding great fish all day long.
On March 31, we have four seats on a private plane flying directly to the lodge. Call or text (806) 679-4433 for details!

Gil Wright and Hal Clifford were on the water today with guide Poncho, experiencing excellent topwater all day.

Recent day and night fishing reports were beyond excellent, and 8 and 9 pound bass were plenty. The crank bait bite is turning on full blast. John Howard reports 41 over 8 in 3 days. Trey Bodgan caught a 12.8 on big pearl color crankbait. Black jigs fished 25 ft deep are working for the good numbers of bass. Overall the bass are just very active. Guide Poncho has been on the best big fish bites. You don’t want to miss this fishing!

I could go on and on, but the simple recap is that the fishing has been awesome. Yesterday the largest fish was 12.8 pounds, with an additional 3 over 11 lbs, 7 over 10 lbs, and 25 over 9 lbs. Sound familiar? That’s right, Baccarac is blowing the doors off the other lakes. This cycle is just starting, and you don’t want to miss it.
Historically, the 3rd week in March has been unbelievable, and I’m betting it will be again.
