You ready for topwater? Topwater has been fantastic the last two days, with Robert Torres catching one bass over 10 pounds and one bass over 9 pounds. Big jigs were used to catch two over 10 pounds, and the majority of the bigger fish (6-8 pounds) can be caught up the river. As always, Papachaw is holding the bigger fish, but numbers are very low in this area.
The President of the Lake Baccarac fan club, Bill Q from Boston, is arriving with his group of 20 trophy hunters and will be on the water 3/22/2017.

It is NOW! I called it back in the fall if you remember! It’s happening again! Get your Bass Down Here!
Big number and big fish! 1 oz jigs, 1 1/2 spinnerbaits, big swimbaits! Our very best friend of the Lodge, and world famous Alaskan guide, “Rick Z” landed the most beautiful 10.7 even seen. Mr Torres hooks up on a couple of 10 plus pounders! Boats are reporting extremely high number of 3 to 7 pounders found in Papachaw. Best trophy guide in Mexico, Manuel Salazar, is just on fire with his incredible 6th sense for finding the right spots. Not far behind is “The Poncho” an absolute raider when it comes to finding trophies on Lake Baccarac.
See you on the water!

Great numbers of fish up to 8 lbs fishing in the shallows, with most boats catching 55 to 90 a day. John Kulkva (with guide Poncho) landed a 10 and 11 in Papachaw using 1 oz jigs tipped with big senkos. Rob Anderson caught 3 over 10 in North Canyon Cut using hardsided swimbaits. Butch Anderson got 1 over 12 fishing near the cross. The normal 10 pound bite has slowed with mostly 8 pounders being the big bass the last 10 days.

The reports a week ago were just awesome. Jackson Bean and his group just had their best trip to any place they have ever been, fishing in the shallows and getting a fair share of 8 to 11 pound bass. Big 1 oz jigs are producing the bigger bass, with hard-sided swimbaits being the 2nd best bait on the lake right now. Of course, wacky style senkos are putting the numbers in the boat. Some boats averaged over 80 a day. Huge rains and extreme cold weather hammered the lake last Friday, and the bigger bass tended to disappear. The biggest bass of the weekend was a nice 12.7 caught by Robert Allison.

Great reports over the last 10 days with plenty of 8 to 9 pound bass for everyone at the lodge . Monster Bass between 10 and 14 pounds have also been showing up with a great deal of frequency.
Recently, Wes Moffat used 1 oz jigs fishing in 16 ft of water and caught 3 over 10 lbs, with the largest at 12.2 lbs. Robert Brand bagged a 13.5 pounder on a 1 oz jig fishing deep as well. David Weeks caught 11 over 8 pounds using scroungers tipped with flukes. Our friends from Japan caught fish from 8 to 13 pounds using swimbaits in 8 ft of water. Barry Rich landed a nice 10 pounder using spinnerbaits. The list goes on and on.
The big fish are coming from various spots on the Lake but the east side seem to be producing the bigger ones, according Narlin .
Guide tip of the month. Use Mono and not Braid; if you are coming this far bring good equipment and let the guide help you. The guides do know the Lake!
