What an unbelievable trip!! Our group of 26 had the entire lodge..The topwater fishing was incredible!! We fished basically nothing but topwaters throughout the day and caught so many fish in the 4-6 lb. range that they started looking small compared to the big ones..22 of the 26 people on the trip caught the biggest Bass of their lives!! The group totaled 12 fish over ten pounds including a 13-2 , 12-3, 11-11 , 11-4 , 11-1 , 10-14 , 10-11 , 10-9..The last day,my partner Dave Clay and I had over 50 lbs. on our best five, ALL ON TOP!!Most boats averaged between 65-120 fish per day..The Service and food was great and everyone is looking foreward to returning ASAP to this very Special place!! The trip was fantastic! Norm and I caught over 125 very nice bass the first two days. The third day we asked our guide Hil to take us to where we could catch “super grande”. We did not catch as many fish the next two days, but we caught several 8’s and 9’s. My biggest was 11 lb 3 oz. We weighed all the fish that we thought would weigh over 8 lbs. The biggest fish we caught were caught very early and very late. We caught them on topwater and spinnerbaits. The lodge was great. The food and service was superb. Tell Tony I said hi. Steve Parker

In a word, AWESOME! Topwater, topwater, topwater. Gil Wright of Oklahoma City fished topwater all day long, fish up to 9 lbs., 60 – 100 bass per day being no problem. Alex Kozel of Paris, TX, catches three fish over 11 lbs. fishing with guide Hiel throwing big Bill Dance crankbaits. Crane Cameron of San Antonio gets a fish over 12 lbs. on a swimbait. Walter Baker of San Antonio, TX describes the fishing as unbelievable topwater, his boat catching 39 fish on topwater in one afternoon. Tog Rogers catching two fish over 11 lbs. and his fishing partner, Teddy Hart, catching a 14 lber. The last two days of fishing have been the best topwater Rene and his guides have even witnessed. Our new guide at Lake Baccarac Lodge, Miguel, and his clients yesterday caught 22 bass on topwater throwing Spittin’ Image between 8 and 11 lbs. Miguel’s brother, Eddie, and his clients had 12 bass between 7 and 10 lbs. caught on Zara Spooks. Rene reports 60 to 80 bass caught on topwater alone up to 9 1/2 lbs. The hottest parts of the lake now continue to be Sonny’s Cove and Russ’s Island. Rancho Padre coming in third place and Papachaw producing better fishing in the evening. The lake is stable at 85% capacity and we predict that topwater will only improve until we get the first cold snap (no telling when that may be).
