Super Pop-R

This lake is blast. Catch as many as you want in 3-6 lb range on topwater in morning and evening. 8″ lizards Texas rigged, flukes( w/Falcon weighted hooks @ 1/16 oz.), 3/4 oz. cranks and 1 oz. rattletraps during the day. Boated 100-200 fish per day. Other boat with our group tore them up on Super Zara Spooks and Saltwater Spooks. Food was excellent. Lodge is in decent shape. As always with the Salazar Clan, service is great. I highly recommend the trip.

Lake Baccarac Lodge reported by Russ Johnson: Topwater bite is still very good with as many 3 to 6 lb. fish you want to catch, some boats catching over 100 per day on topwater. Gary Byard reported a 12 lb. bass caught using a rico pop’r. The banks and the points are holding the majority of the fish with the bigger fish still being caught deeper in 20 ft. of water, using both Texas rigged and Carolina rigged plastic watermelon lizards. The lodge reports that 8 inch lizards are working much better than the 6 inch and all clients coming in the next few days need to make sure they bring watermelon lizards. Several big fish have broken off, according to the clients, and the common cause seems to be too small of mono line. Russ Johnson says 20 lb. mono is the minimum to be used while fishing for the big fish.

Cheryl, Just wanted to drop you a line. We just came back from our trip to Lake Baccarac and we had a great time. The fishing was great along with the food and lodge. We are now talking about making it a yearly trip. .We had over 100 fish per day with our biggest being over 9lb. TO many 4-6 lbs to mentioned and along with a bunch of 7lbs. Just a fantastic trip …. Topwater, Lizards,Crankbaits

Report from Russ Johnson at the lodge is that his “head is spinning” from the big fish activity. Every person staying at the lodge last night caught a fish over 10 lbs yesterday, with the largest being a 13.10. Topwater action remains insane. It seems that more big fish are moving up from 20ft to around 14ft where they were taken on deep diving DD22’s and Fat Free Shad crankbaits. Texas and carolina rigged 8″ Zoom lizards did major damage also.

we experienced our best trip ever there were 4 of us fishing including my dad ,uncle and a friend all who caught a fish over 10lbs. anchored by my personal best 12lb 8oz bruiser I caught on a white spinnerbait. my uncle must be the king of the topwater because he caught an 8,9,and his last a 10 on a popper that I provided I might add since he lost his on a bruiser fish that drug him in the brush. Incredible numbers of 4,5lb bass also thanks again for the memories and the awesome service .
