The numbers remain excellent up the river near Duck Island using crankbaits and rattletraps. Bouncing spinnerbaits on the bottom (a favorite of Manuel Salazar) has produced multiple bass over 10 pounds. Shane Ryal has already caught seven over 10 and seven over 9.
The hottest guide on the lake again this year is Poncho, as he has been on the big fish in Papachaw.

Absolutely great numbers the first week of the year with Carmon Taylor’s group catching 140 to 200 fish a day, and with Eddie Repp landing a real 11 pound trophy. Bryan Elliot flew down in his own plane and managed 4 over 10 pounds all on TOPWATER. The level is just now starting to drop for the season, and the weather much warmer than expected with beautiful days and evenings.
