spinnerbait, finesse worms
Hottest Colors:motor oil, root beer
Time Of Day:all day Oct 22 to 26
The passing of Hurricane Patricia created a low pressure system that made the action on the lake just unreal. We’ve had countless 2 to 3 pounders, and good spinnerbait action for the midsize 5 to 8 pounders, but nothing to report over 10. Finesse worms in motor oil and root beer color were eaten up by the smaller fish. It seems like a large number of fish are still positioned in the back of the coves. We did manage to catch 1/2 dozen on topwater in the late afternoon. The lake is at 78% capacity, and Sixto and Manuel are the guides that are dialed into the fish the best.
We currently have two seats available out of Fort Worth on a private flight on November 20. Call 806-679-4433 to book.

GREAT SURFACE ACTIVITY

lizards, topwater, rattletraps
Hottest Colors:watermelon lizards, silver rattletraps
Time Of Day:all day
With the lake standing at about 70% capacity and currently stable, and with temperatures in the low 90s, fishing is as we expected. There is a ton of surface activity as fish are cornering shad and chasing them to the top. Although these fish will not take a topwater lure, the schooling bass can be caught using 3/4 and 1 oz rattletraps. Yesterday, four fish between 8 and 11 were caught on rattletraps in Cove Papachaw. With the stable lake level, fish have been suspended in 25 feet of water out in the main lake. A lot of these fish are catchable with watermelon lizards and watermelon worms, along with bouncing white double-bladed spinnerbaits on the bottom. Just sticking with the basic worm for the day, there is currently no problem catching between 20 and 50 per day. Last spring, the spawn was fantastic, with countless 9 to 12 inch bass running the lake near the surface.

Lake Level is at 71% and rising after the big rain. Current conditions offer excellent fishing with 7 fish over 10 pounds caught using topwater baits, as the fish this week are staying very shallow. Brad Thomas and his group are currently averaging 45 fish per day.
Fall patterns are in full swing!

Terry,
Thought I would give you a report on our recent trip to the lodge. We had a great time but never got into the “Grandes”. We caught 217 fish with (3) 8’s, (4) 7’s. The fun thing was that 50% of the fish were 3.5 to 6 pound Baccarac freight trains. Countless times I was sure I had a 10 plus and it turned out to be a 4-6 pound fighter. Our running joke was “(insert guides name here) was not impressed” as we reeled in another fish that had just kicked our butt and impressed us.
The food was the best I had ever had and of course the service was great. All in all we had a wonderful trip and we’re already planning the next adventure.
Regards,
Dan
