The fish are biting! While we haven’t received many pictures as the Thanksgiving holiday only had us with a pair of boats on the water, but we are stacking anywhere from 50 to 100+ bass per day on spinnerbaits, topwater, mid range cranks, and plastics.
The bigger fish this week have come on cranks and topwater in bone and shad. Plastics are all watermelon variations, and spinnerbaits in white, or white/chart/blue.

We think the fall bite has finally kicked in. There has been more big fish in the last 10 or so days than the previous month. We are finally getting some cool and refreshing mornings, and the topwater fish have started to show, albeit in specific spots. But, when you find those spots, the action is usually fast and furious.
The mornings have seen much more activity as of late than the afternoons, but the afternoons have produced some nice fish but at a slower pace.
Other hot baits include scroungers on the bush edges, texas and wacky senkos in watermelon or red variations, and underspins with keitech swimbaits.

Things seem to be turning a corner for bigger fish and the numbers are still holding steady at 40-70 per day. Most of the patterns over the last two weeks are the same, but we’ve also found a spinnerbait bite for better fish over the last few days.
The Hall group picked up a 10.2 fishing with Jorge fishing a spinnerbait just before sunset today.
We’re hoping that this trend continues as the water and night air temps drop.

For the last week or so the bite has been a bit tough. Post-front conditions have left already scattered fish even more scattered. We were still seeing plenty of numbers during that time, but we found the bigger fish to be shut down. The lure selection over the last few weeks has been pretty consistent and can be cut and pasted here.
This week, we seem to be picking up a few more quality bites, and it seems to be trending in the right direction. Water surface temps on the water are still in the mid 80’s where normally we’d be seeing water temps in the mid to high 70’s. But, a few cool nights have just passed, and if we can get a few more weeks with cooler night air temps, we should see the topwater bite pick up. We’ve seen a few more fish hitting on top this week, so the hope is to continue on that trajectory.
We have a full house this week with good fishermen, so we’re confident that the quality fish will start to show.
