Chester Graham group had another fabulous trip – with every boat the first day catching around fifty fish; unfortunately most of them were small. Day two, fishing close to the bank, they started seeing a lot bigger fish and by day three, 90% of the bass were females being caught one to two feet from the bank in less than two feet of water and boats were catching between 80 and 100 fish a day. Chester once again won the big bass pot and also had 25 fish over 6 lbs. Big Senkos, swimming flukes and very light scroungers were the ticket.

(34) @ 5 lbs
75% of the remaining fish were between 3 pounds and 5 pounds.

Russ and Michael:
(1) @ 9 lb.
(2) @ 8 lb.
(3) @ 7 lb.
(5) @ 6 lb.
(10) @ 5 lb.
(123) total for 3 days
Most big fish came on 4'-6' depth, suspending Jerkbaits in silver/black back and pearl with chartreuse. I ripped my jerkbait pretty hard in one to three jerk series. It seemed to make the fish react to the bait and cause them to compete with each other to hit it. Many times I saw multiple, large fish swirling under my lure near the boat.
One small submerged island in Rancho Padre produced a 9, 8 , 7 and a 6 with one giant that came off under off the boat. All were on jerk baits.
We lost 5 jerk bait that felt like very big and had hooks straightened as well as split rings broken. Replace your stock hooks people!
We also had some good luck on day 1 with chartreuse chatter baits tipped with a magnum watermelon lizard.
The 3/4 ounce scrounger jig tipped with a white fluke and dyed tail was good early in the day but tapered off pretty quickly.
Top water early and late produced a few fish but most bites were big fish. Most fish just swiped at the top water lures but it sure was fun to watch.

Joe and Dave:
(1) @ 8 lb.
(2) @ 7 lb.
(4) @ 6 lb.
(11) @ 5 lb.
(104) total for 3 days
This boat fished primarily lizards, senkos, and jigs tipped with chompers brand twin tailed, skirted grubs. Colors were mainly watermelon and green with dip n glow dyed tails in orange or yellow. This boat fished top water chug bugs and pop r's with some good luck first and last thing each day.

Chuck and Rod:
(1)@ 10 lb.
(1)@ 8 lb.
(3) @ 7 lb.
(5) @ 6 lb.
(7) @ 5 lb.
(55) total for 3 days
This boat fished primarily watermelon lizards, wacky rigged senkos in watermelon and some poppers/chug bugs on top first and last thing each day.

Brian and Nick:
(1) @ 7 lb
(2) @ 6 lb.
(6) @ 5 lb.
(132) total for 3 days
These guys caught the best numbers of fish solely on wacky rigged, lightly weighted Senkos in green and watermelon with both ends dipped in yellow or orange dip n glow lure dye. They said the fish hit most every color they tried. They used nothing but lightly weighted Senkos.

I cannot argue with the statement that everything you've read about Baccarac is absolutely, 100% true. We have been to two other lakes (El Salto and Comedero) on three trips and although we caught higher numbers elsewhere, the average fish from Baccarac was much bigger at between 3 and 7 pounds.

The lodge is top quality and is staffed with a crew of people that do everything they can to ensure that you have the best time possible. The rooms were great and had a more than adequate supply of hot water, quality air conditioning systems and roomy bathrooms. The view from the lodge has to experienced firsthand to be fully appreciated. The food was also phenomenal. I came back heavier than I arrived.

As a veteran of Mexican bass fishing I can honestly state that anyone looking to make the trip south of the border should look no further than Lake Baccarac and Lake Baccarac Lodge. The thing I love the most about this lake is that you KNOW that you could catch the biggest fish of your life on the next cast. You will not experience better fishing, service or scenery anywhere else. Contact Terry or Cheryl Hollan with Reel Mexican Adventures as soon as you can and get your butt down there!

The last two weeks has offered everything from a real slow bite to some phenomenal big fish coming from the guys who wanted to work hard for the fishing. Our good doctor friends from Chihuahua who dedicated themselves to fishing hard and deep and fishing with their favorite guide, Enrique, were rewarded with the best catches we have seen this calendar year. Where else can you catch 60 something fish between 5 and 8 lbs. Watermelon lizards, 7 and 9 inch Senkos, along with 4 inch flukes tipped on the end of a scrounger and even some fantastic crank bait fishing.

This quote from Dan Burns: “I fished El Salto for two days, caught nothing but 1 ½ and 2 lb. bass. I was immediately rescued by your guys, brought to Lake Baccarac and on my first cast, caught an amazing 11.4 lb. bass. We averaged 20 fish in the morning and 20 to 25 fish every afternoon at Baccarac. I will never go to another lake. “

am so happy to report the following: Jason Courtney and his group last week had an outstanding trip at Lake Baccarac. Actually had a blow-out trip the first two days dove hunting with us in Obregon. The photos are unreal of the numbers of birds they killed. At Baccarac, it’s hard to tell from the photos exactly how many fish over 10, 11 and even 12 lbs. were caught by the group but it was a good one. Paralleling what they did last year by using Alabama rigs, targeting schools of shad, Jason and his partners produced pictures and stories of many large bass, some boats catching 20 fish a day while others caught 80 fish a day. Watermelon lizards produced great numbers running the banks. Baccarac is poised to have a fantastic spring and we hope you come see us! Many of our private flights are full but we still have plenty of availability to run additional flights for those hoping to jump on a flight from Dallas or Phoenix. I have two seats February 26th I would like to fill.
If anybody is interested in those, call me at 806-679-4433.

This is just a one-day report but parallels the last four or five days. 20 – 50 fish in the morning session with 20 – 30 fish in the afternoon session. Lots of one to three lb. fish with a few four and five, as the action is very good. We have several great photos today from Narlin of 8 and 9 lb. fish. The full moon is on us right now and the lake is primed to explode with big fish. Many phone calls and many emails about the photos on the website not being posted. My apologies. We have been posting big fish pictures to our Facebook page but starting today, we will get those photos up on the website – some real monsters have been photographed recently.
We have several dates where can allow fishermen on our private flights. You will need to call to see if you can match up with one of those dates. Call 806-679-4433.

The famous Baccarac 10 lb’ers have not been showing up but we are getting a good number of 8 and 9s. The even better news is the number of small and medium sized fish we have been catching. The mid-December rains have really helped the level of the lake and we suspect that it will suppress the fishing action by a couple of more weeks but we should be in for a great season of spring fishing. The best baits right now are lizards, Senkos; you gotta come with your Scroungers and, of course, this is the time of year to use the Alabama rigs. See you on the lake!

Fish of all sizes right now – high number of one and two lbers, catching several four to six lbers at will and with nine lbers showing up daily. Very few over ten this time of year but it’s very encouraging with the numbers of small fish we are finding. The December rains have really pushed the lake up and setting it up for fantastic spring fishing. We have several fish pictures to post – just waiting for the customers to send them to us when they return home. Baccarac continues to the be the best big fish lake and we are very glad that we can operate our hotel there.
Several groups looking for a couple of people – January 13th has room for two people – call 806-679-4433. January 28th looking for two to four people.
Our dove hunting in Obregon is also going strong and offers some fantastic hunts. Most recently, six of us, in one morning of hunting, killed 4700 birds.
January 3rd, we have two seats open to go to Obregon for our dove hunts. January 12th, we have two to three seats and February 1st, we have two seats. Our operation at Obregon is a five star, gold standard operation. Looking forward to seeing you at one of our lodges!

Fishing is real good right now, lots of good reports

04/29/2013

This past week we have had very slow fishing....some topwater but the bite are very few and far >>>>>lots of fish jumping and chasing shad but not many biting lures

04/23/2013

Consistently inconsistent. That’s the best way to describe the lake this year, or at least since the first of March. We’ve had some stretches of phenomenal catches, some very exciting crank bait action recently, but as soon as the action started, the fish stopped biting crank baits. In the last several days, they have gone back to plastics. I can certainly give you only the highlights and tell you about the 10 lbers recently being caught, which over the last fifteen days, there have been plenty, or I could tell you about the 7 to 9 lbers, but the truth is, the big bite maybe on one day, and for whatever reason, it’s not there the next. It could be the moon, the continued cold fronts or the water level, but for whatever reason, there’s not a consistent bite and it’s very hard to report what they’re biting on. It’s literally changing every day. We’ll have more reports over the next couple of days.

04/13/2013

THe crankbait bite is on!!! Manuel and Narlin both report huge crankbait bite happen right now

Ken Garrett catches 71 bass the last 2 days using only deep diving crankbaits with big fish 11.12

Ken partners using softplastics only llands 11 fish the last 2 days......it is cranking time

Bud Griffin and his boat caught 44 bass yesterday cranking big crankbaits with 7 fish over 9 pounds

Mitch Blackburn catches his personal best on his first castand breaks again 4 more times yesterday with a monster 13.14 trophy

04/07/2013

Bill Benson and Jack Mocnik had a very successful week on the lake, catching the majority of their fish on trick worms, Senkos and Strike King deep-diving crank baits, with 10 to 12 lb. fish being landed every day on the water, the only exception being Friday, April 5th.
Fishing continues to improve with catches of 30 to 60 fish per boat per day.

Steve Anderson caught 50 fish today, with half of them in the 3 – 5 lb. range and the other half in the 6 – 13 lb. range. He used mainly deep-diving crank baits and some swim baits.
