We fished Baccarac last week, fished for 6 days, great trip, lots of fun and fish. My biggest was 9 lb 2 oz, my partners biggest 8lb 4 oz. The larger fish had not gained all their weight back so they would have tipped the scales more if they had some belly, most bellies were flat, but still many quality fish with the Baccarc mean attitude,, let the feeding frenzy begin!. Counts were average of 100 plus per day for the 2 of us, most productive for numbers was the lizard, most productive for size was the swim bait fished deeper on points and humps. Had sporadic top water bite but when it was on it was on. Other productive baits were the fluke and large worms. Spinnerbaits, rattletraps and cranks were not that great however we did have one morning of good cranks during a small feeding frenzy, if you could get it down the larger fished were under the small guys busting the surface. Can't wait to go back!

Sonny reports great fishing, some giant bass, and predicts the best fishing is still to come during the remainder of April, May, June and July. Historically, the giant fish do not show up to spawn until April, May and June. The local commercial federation of tilipia fishermen has halted all commercial fishing to insure the sportfisherman will have the best opportunity over the next 90 days to land the trophy bass. In the last day and a half, we saw the numbers of big fish caught per person increase dramatically. Sonny caught a 12.8, with Benny Loukas of Amarillo, Texas catching an 11 1/2 and Alex Loukas catching a 10 1/2, all coming off of the same submerged island. Steve Ash of Phoenix caught a 10 1/2 off of the same island. Ron Davenport of Dumas, Texas caught a 10.7. Terry Scott, also of Dumas, reports the best fishing trip he has ever had. At one point, he caught fish for an hour and a half on every cast that were between 3 and 5 lbs. Hurry down to Baccarac! It promises to get even better, we think.

A few big ones have shown up and George Mitchell from Midland, TX fishing with our guide, Heel, caught an 11.6 using a jerkbait. Sonny Talkington has been on the big fish bite and landed a nice 10.5 on topwater last evening. The patterns vary. There is not any one particular pattern that's producing more than others. The better bass are coming from deeper water.
